We’ve All Heard of Resting Bitch Face, but This is worse!

We all know the girl who has resting bitch face (RBF), that can get weird. Or maybe it’s you…but do you know what is even worse than the random bouts of RBF is?

It’s not being likable

If your thinking this may be you and saying “that’s just me and I can only be me right!?”

Well my friend, It’s time to put our big girl panties and a smile on.

You see, opportunities arise more often for people who have the willingness to try new things, apart to change and are LIKEABLE.

Companies and professionals can teach you new skills.  However, landing your dream job, booking that gig you’ve been dying to get, meeting with your dream client, could actually all boil down to you being likable or not.

Yes, some things happen because of who you know and good timing. But you should always been on high alert as an opportunity could arise at any time. And when it does, you want to be the one people think of.

I’m not saying you have to be a kiss-ass. I’m saying how we show up, our attitudes and energy level attract or repel opportunity.

Think about the people who:

You willing to do favors for.

Want to spend your time with.

Share stories and ideas with.

Collaborate on projects together.

Think of your resume – who do you think a past employer is going to give good recommendations for?  People who are LIKABLE. Remember, skills can be taught but it’s how we show up everyday that counts.

My challenge for you:

Next time someone asks how you are. Rather than saying the ultra boring and un-stimulating “fine” or even worse, “I’m here.” Say “I’m amazing!” “I’m doing fantastic!” “I’m freaking awesome today”…you are going to catch people’s attention quickly and raise your energy. An extra benefit for you is – when your energy is up, you are more effective, creative and authentic. Which makes you more likable.

Lastly, make sure your verbal and non-verbal communication is aligned. Meaning, if you say “I’m amazing”  in a monotone RBF kind-of-way. No one is going to buy it.
Show up, live out loud and be likable.
